I don't see why it's so necessary to kill a fish that's so rare. He could have took a picture and recorded all the measurements and the taxidermist could still make it.

He probably always tells "the big fish story".  So when he finally caught one, he probably felt the need to prove it.

Pretty lame man. As whippersnapper stated any decent taxidermist makes a model of a fish from measurements and photos. Some people feel they have something to prove I guess.

It's a shame that the picture of the largest Golden trout I've ever seen also contains the image of a guy that thought it was better to cram it into his backpack than to slide it back back into the water. No respect.   Viking

With that photograph and measurements  he could have  had a repoduction fiberglass  or a carved trophy. The article in the San Diego  paper said he has several carved fish by Bob Berry, who is a world class fish carver, instead he ops for a skin mount , which in twenty years will be a  sad shriveled  reminder of the trophy  he could have had. Now he gets the notority  of a bad decision.
