Getting ready for the Iso hatch.  I tied up a claret colored thread S and M nymph with peaxxxx ice dub for the thorax.  Anybody have another pattern.  I've heard that prince nymphs work pretty well.

Here are two patterns that I think might work. Especially if you switch the colors on the second one to a darker red, mahogany color.

Li' Red Spanker

Brown Drake Emerger

You can also tie a brown Hare's Ear Nymph variant. For the dubbing, use brown UV Ice Dub. Make sure to overdub, then pick the dubbing out.

This isn't a very pretty fly, but it works.

Edit:  for the tail, use three strands of pea**** herl off of a sword instead of rabbit.

Went to the Pit in search of these big bugs, but didn't see any. The fish are still eating caddis though. Fox poopahs are all you need. Big bugs, big fish!!

Thanks for the patterns the big swimmers should be here soon.

I have a couple of jobs in Redding right now. When I get a break of a few hours I can go fishing. Work is tough as a consultant!

I fished the Pit last year in October and had tied up some Iso's. The fish were never on them and we never really saw any. We ended up doing really well with rubber leg hares ears all week.
