Brian,

Take it as a compliment that a simple post can grow into a nice thread.  However, Brian has shown Rich and I pictures of his blowup dolls, and I'm sure Rich will back me up on this one, none of those blow up dolls were trout.

Bob

crazy how a fish post can start talking about blow up dolls, drinking, gettin laid, gettin married and being a trout bum all at the same time.

oh ya the app got accepted to CHP. so a written test will be taken on 9/19.

for some reason my blow up dolls are gone, he bob and rich werent you guys telling me that u was illergic to latex, and now u guys are complaing about an illergic reaction to something. hmmmm i wonder who has them now.

Even if you told people where it was , there is no guarantee they would catch a fish like that. You put in enough time on that water to earn that one.

Here's another nice brownie . . . caught a year ago.  My friend finally ponied up the picture a year later!!!!  This was caught on Rock Creek in Montana.  The funny thing is we were floating Rock Creek.  When we stopped for lunch, I wandered over to fish a side channel and landed this thing.  The guide quickly ran over to hold the fish for the picture!!!!  Almost as nice as Brian's. . .

look at the spots on that thing, B A U tiful.

but ya black cloud is right, where i took the pic is not where i hooked it or landed it. and i have fished that stretch and an other stretch 2 times a week religiously for the past month and a half. i was just in the right place at the right time. i am just glad i got my broke ass up and went fishing that day. cuz who knows who would have landed him

looks like ill be up there once again tomorrow, cant go all day, got a hot date. but me and my boy will have our 3 wts in hand. yes i said 3wts, thats the new challage. using 5s and 6s are over rated. lol. nothing like landing pigs on a 3wt.

You didn't take the pic where you landed it? You've fished that stretch religiously for the past month and a half? Must be the Truckee, right?

no strokin of ego, that was a long long time ago. its all about sh-ts and giggles now.

and yes its the truckee, but there are a few stretches that i have been fishing, and the one i took u to is not the one that i hooked it in. i have fished from the town of truckee all the way to the boarder, even with the construction. if u know the dirt roads and side roads u can fish the whole river. BUT U NEED A 4WD rig.

was out yesterday, fished all over. one spot that me and my buddy fished is where the bear craps in the woods pic was taken on the first truckee river vacation. and lets put it this way, i thought i saw a tuna in the water, ocfourse it wasnt. maybe it was a shark. nope it wasnt. this fish was huge, and he was in a feeding lane from heaven. This fish had bigger shoulders than me and just as fat. lol. not kinding i have seen some big fish in my day, from 10-15 lb steelhead to 50lb salmon to 20lb muskys, and this thing was up there. if i had to guess he was or she, in the 13-15lb range, and easily pushing 35"s, what was cool is this fish was but maybe 6ft off the bank in a feeding lane that gave um all the food. so i sat there just watched for about 10 mins then it was on. took of my shot, took of my big indicator and put a smaller one. first drift he looked at it but no take. gave him a second to regroup. second drift was money. saw the giant take my skwala (yes i was that close) i set the hook hard, maybe to hard, the fish shot up out of the water and took off down stream, and with one giant headshake the fish was off. my hands are still shakin from seeing that fish. i guess i let the big one get away this time. lol. sorry couldnt land this one. i would have needed gods hand to land this one. but it was just great to see him that close watch him takin food, then grab my skwala like it was candy. it was freakin sweet. that just made the day. We did get into some nice fish, ranging from 8"s up to about 20"s. but the brownie with forever be burnt into my sole. hope to see him again some time soon.

ALL YOUR VOTES WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
THANKS
BC

Damn man... Sounds like you got your rhythm down up there. Want to take me fishing ;) haha Good luck on the monsters.

-Jon

P.S. But seriously, I haven't been fishing since mid-June and it's killing me. I'm busy during the weekdays, but my weekends are going to be pretty free. Anybody wanna go fishing? I'll buy beer/gas. PM me.

Dude, I know how you feel.  Sort of.  I live very close to Putah in Davis and have been spending a lot of time lately stalking some big large-mouths.  I finally hooked one up, fought it for about a minute until it burst under a branch and broke me off.  It was huge and was taking me and my 5wt for a ride.   Afterwards I was shaking, my heart was racing and I had to sit down so I get start breathing again.  Man what a rush!

Fantasic catch BC!
I was just admiring the girl again covered in chocalate chips. What a beaut
I may be wrong with this observation, but it seems to me the big female browns don't have the flared out nostrils that the males have. Kinda like Shreks earssmile

Brian, you gotta stop using that 3wt for these Buick-sized fish. That's like bringing a nail file to a knife fight. Just unwrapped the new Sage "PP" to cast for demo. Now, that's a rod for your type of "hog hunting".

Brian,

I sure hope to get to fish with you some day. Maybe you could help a rookie like me break the curse of the 3inch trout (yes Bob they have moved from 2-3.... ) Anyway this leads to my question about landing big fish..have you ever tried Furled leaders. I have a friend that swears by the things?? He is on the pro-staff for Blue-Sky leaders and am not quite sure if he is just pluggin them or if they really work ??? I use them as he has given me a  couple but I those "monsters" I am catching don't really test anything out. I look forward to hearing what you think as you obviously have some experience with big trout.

I have added a link to a page on their site.... scroll down to the first testimonial from him...you won't miss the great big brown he hes holding!!!

http://www.blueskyfly.com/aboutus.html

Anyway keep the stories coming ...I know the get me pretty fired up .... so much so that i am taking some time off to get up to the truckee next as my planned trip last week was busted by work :(

Cheers,

Alastair

hey shaun i was using my 5wt when i hooked that monster. he just gave it to me without lube. the 3 wt i use in a different area on the truckee, where yes there are big fish, but not monsters like this or what i hooked a few weeks back. i know where to whip out the 3wt and where ill be under gunned. its all about flows, above and just below prosser ill use the 3wt but below boca i will not.

sage has a nice new rod out for 250 called the vantage, just tried it out at american fly. awesome rod for a great price, its takin the launches place. not as stiff, thats y i hated the lauch. these rods have a nice but section, still fast action but definitely not rigid like the launches. i played witha 5 and 8wt both 9ft, the 8 wt is sweet, if someone is looking for a nice 9ft 8wt i would roll into american fly ask for mike or al, tell them brian clemens sent ya they will hook u up.

off to the east carson tomorrow. gonna fish a spot that i know no one fishes. ill post about it on saturday.

if anyone would like to hit up east carson with me and a bud tomorrow call me asap.

Brian, That is one beautiful Brown! It looks like the ones they catch in New Zealand where they measure fish in pounds not inches! You definately have your mojo workin'! Keep it up, Viking
