Trout in UC Davis!!!!!

Well boys, we me and my buddy were down fishing Putah Creek and hammered some huge trout in the Riparian Reserve. They were spawning so we thought we would try our luck with rainbow trout streamers and pissed them off. They hammered those streamers so hard and fought like no other fish I have caught on the Creek.
We let them go, but had a blast messing around with them.

Go give it a try boys!!!!!!!

confuseMaybe I'm tired from work today, so I'm not too clear on issues and those posted on this board, but fishing intentionally for spwaners I thought was a no-no. If I'm wrong, the usual angry PM's will suffice.

At least we now know there are trout this far down the creek. But, shouldn't there be no spawning going on? I know some fish spawn late, but I figured that had been long gone by now, esp down here in the elevatation of Davis. Perhaps they were just tail chasing around?

The original post was a joke post. Forget about spawners, trout, etc in the Riparian Reserve. The flow there is 20 cfs, warm, and mostly on private land or University property. If you would like to go: google putah creek riparian reserve for directions (the link I found did not work in this post)-- Edited by SK60 on Tuesday 18th of August 2009 09:35:26 AM

That's exactly what that guy was trying to do. He's just trying to piss people off. He's probably a bait fisherman... Look at his avatar, looks like a spinning reel to me.

Yeah not in the best of taste but you only needed to take one look at the picture to see it was not real. Most probably one of the poor bait guys that got chewed out by Youkon Mike and was still a little sour about it?? It does, however, highlight the fact that the solution to Putah's problems will require the co-operation from all anglers, and hopefully one day Putah will be on the recovery path and some of us that did not know it before will get to see it in some of its former glory.

PS Nice fish in there Richard, is that one of your Yuba trp's fish??

That pic he posted is a photoshop product as well. I find the joke amusing... the Lower part of Putah does get a small run of salmon (though last yr I dont know) and maybe even a steelie or two in the winter. Right now it is a murkey bass pond. good luck out there people.
