I was working at the hatchery at Livingston last week. Attached are some photos of the work being performed by the USFWS. The hatchery releases thousands of endangered winter run salmon on the lower sac. They are also working on the delta smelt. The hatchery is below the Shasta dam. All of the trays hold hundreds of salmon eggs and alevin. The more salmon on the river means the more trout and steelies we can all battle.
I tried to sneak out some eggs, but they caught me at the door. I guess I will have to use beads or those Pautzkes balls of fire. To fish the Pautzkes eggs I just high stick with a little shot and a treble hook, works great.
