When i was a kid i used to go camping & fishing on putah creek just above monticello dam & i really loved it. fishing was good & even a young kid who didn't know much could really hook 'em. this was about 25 years ago . i'm just starting to fish again & am thinking of taking my son to the area for a weekend trip. wondering if there are still any good campsights where i can bring my tent trailer (i don't really care about or need hookups/water/etc). i've poked around online but maybe i'm not looking in the right spots because i'm not really seeing any campgrounds on the creek (although i can see plenty on berryessa).
also, looking at the posts here it sounds like this is a tough year for fishing on the creek. i'm just getting back into the game after a long time, so any tips to a non-fly fisherman on the creek would be appreciated. i'd like to hook a few, but even if the fishing is tough i can chalk it up to a nice weekend on the creek if it's anything like i remember it as a kid.
You can try Canyon Creek Resort up by the dam,I know in the past they have allowed overnight camping for non-members only on certain occasions though. Good luck. Bono
