Yuba 6/6 Trip a Bust......

b-cup to be more specific - here's a picture of my girlfriend sans clothes after we "rode the rapids" while wading. I'm pretty beat up and so is she.

A picture of Steve E. with a great fish

A picture of Erica with a slightly better fish only because I hadn't crossed over to Steve while he was yarding out pigs.....

Steve, Erica and I caught better than a dozen really good fish. I don't know how the others did but everybody seemed pretty happy at the end of the day. The fish were eager to eat rubber legs and wonderbras and we had some good food and didn't have to walk that far. That was one of the most fun days fishing I've had in years. When do we get to go again?

Thanks Steve K for putting together a great day!

Bernie

I agree, what a great time yesterday.  I wish I hadn't marched so far downriver and took some time to talk more with everyone.  Next time.  I unserstand that Alistair actually caught a fish smaller than this, but hey, mine's on film!  Notice how I actually hooked this 1 3/4` monster through the nose!!!!  You have to move quickly on the set to pull that off?  I'm submitted this for smallest fish of the trip.

I got into a few fish , but nothing nice like you guys.  Mine were 10"-12" fish.  Had a nice one on and he got out into the current and headed downstream.  As I was trying to catch up to him, I stepped into a hole in the river bottom and took a  full dunk also.  Fortunately it was warm enough to shed the clothing for about 20 minutes and dry off under the cover of the bushes.   Mine all took PMD dries.  The other rainbow was a little different.  Notice how few spots there are on it?

It was an excellent day! This was a splendid spot, and I'll be dying to return in the future. About 3 minutes before we had to leave I had a nice 8 inch trout try jump up at a deer hair caddis I tied. I got so excited I ripped the fly off the water before it had a chance to taste it. I have that image burned in my head now smile.gif

I didn't have anything on nearly as big as those 'bows pictured, but a pretty fun filled day with a good amount of trout. Special thanks to Libby for the masterclass on dry fly fishing on small tackle - I'm dying to get out and buy a 3 or 4 weight now. I also got some awesome action photos of Alastair landing a fish (hope he doesn't mind me sharing one!).

Thanks to Steve and anyone else who helped turn this idea into an awesome day. I feel like I owe you a dozen flies to express my gratitude Steve - maybe some humpies?

Vince

Thanks Steve for a really great trip. It was wonderful meeting some of the people from the forum, and thanks to everyone for all the help and advice they gave me. I hope to go fishing again with some of you guys in the near future.

Alastair

PS Bob.... Looking at the pics I think I might just take smallest fish of the day ?!?

Alistair,

I agree, I think you win.  Yours looks about 1/8" shorter than mine!  Total size between the two must be 3 1/2".  One day these guys will be monsters.

Bob

Those are some great pics!! I think Steve or Erica's fish could eat those little fish for lunch. Those fish are definitely hard charging yuba trout.

It is also just great fun to hook into fish on dries no matter how big they are. Looks like everyone is having fun with all the big smiles.
