I lost my fly box again!  If anyone is fishing around the "guide hole", please keep an eye out.  Probably lost it hiking up the steep trail to the hwy, about 1000 yards east of the deer sign.  Its greay and has my name and number on it.

Tough times for most and I can't afford to repalce it.  any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

My son lost one of my fly boxes a couple of years ago by leaving his vest open.   While steelhead fishing  this year I dropped my split shot holder into the Sacto in about 3 feet plus of water and wasted ten minutes trying to retreive it.  That made me a little nervous.  My favorite fly box, with most my best patterns, has a little plastic loop on one end.  I took a short length of string and tied it to another loop on my vest.  It has about a foot of play so I can get it and pull out a new fly easily, but not enough string that it causes me any problems.  I feel much more secure with it.

That's a shame, Neli...I just totalled up what I'd lose if I lost my #1 nymph box in my head and it scared the bejeesus out of me...I didn't actually count, but I think there are like 10 dozen flies in there....

I would always put my name and phone number on my boxes, when i was in wyoming I found a nymph box that had atleat 250 flies in it, I'm sure the person who lost it is missing it right now. Although I feel bad for the person who lost it, I couldnt help being excited about the find.biggrin

All good stuff.  I think I will add some sort of leash system to my next.  Second box I have lost on the creek.  I need to learn once and for all to zip my pocket, even when I am recovering from the adrenaline rush after a big break off.
I thought I new where I probably lost it.  I came up to the HWY at an odd place wich required some climbing skill, so I went back monday to look for it.  No box, but I do have poison oak on both elbows!

OK, OK, I get it, lesson learned.

My name and number are on the box, its not an impresive collection, but its all I have......Had.

After dropping a box in the Silver Fork a few years ago and watching it float away until a friend netted it downstream, I started using retractors.  Scientific Anglers boxes have holes where you can attach a retractor.  I use one for each box in my vest.  I still drop them sometimes, but they don't get away.

Another leash set up ...
use some butt section leader material and 2 standard locking swivels for bait leader set ups and make your own leash.works great for the fly boxes that have a small hole in them.and you can clip the other end of the swivel to you jacket, vest.or what ever and one to your fly box...cheap and easy....
