I thought it might be kinda interesting so see what is your goto setup as for a rod, reel, and line ? I mean the one that you use the most and you like the most ? I'll post mine after a few replys.

All around trout rig:
Sage Z-Axis 9' 5 weight
Abel Creek 2 Large Arbor
Rio Grand

Edit since peeps are putting down steelhead rigs, too.
Steelhead rig:
Sage Euro Spey 12'6" 6 weight
Bauer M5SL
Rio Skagit Short w/tips

My college student budget rig:

9' 6wt St. Croix Avid
STH MR Pop reel
I have one cassette with DT 6 Cortland 555, which is really stiff and can be an issue with dead drifting.
Another cassette with WF SA Mastery Trout, which is nice and supple.

My next buy will be a Sage or Great Bay Rod Co. 4wt

I might be wrong , but isnt that the guy that got booted off the forum a few weeks ago...

When Iam  chasing trout under an indicator....I use a  custom brown trout,  Able super six loaded with RIO Nymph (Light green) mounted to a sage 9'0" ,6wt, XLT 

 My norcal steelhead set up is a Able super seven in steelhead finish loaded with RIO 8wt steelehead line In yellow mounted on a Sage 10ft, 7wt, XP

Sage, Abel, And Rio are looking like popular choices so far.I figured that since one of the often asked questions on the forum is whatsa good rod to get, So I thought if everyone just listed what they like to use then it would be easy just to look at the list and get some good ideas.

For Putah I rely on a Scott V2 9' 5-weight matched to a Galvan Torque 4 lined with Rio Selective Trout and an extra spool lined with a Cortland Precision Clear Camo intermediate sink tip to work streamers.

All of my other fishing (steelhead, bass, and surf perch) is done with a custom build St. Croix Legend Elite 9' 8-weight matched to a Galvan Torque 8 lined with Rio's "The Clouser" floating line and an extra spool lined with a Teeny 200 sink tip. I also carry a Nautilus FW 7+ lined with Rio's Streamer Tip.

For Putah I use a 9 ft 5 wt Fenwick HMG graphite rod with a Lamson reel and Rio Gold line.  If I want a more delicate presentation like when I am fishing a lake to rising fish, I will switch to a 9 ft 5 wt Scott rod.  When I am fishing smaller streams, I use a 9 ft 4 wt Scott rod with an LRH Lightweight reel.  I think all of my rods and reels are at least 15 years old.

One thing I want to mention is that you don't have to use expensive equipment to be effective.  A year or two ago I was watching a TV program where Joe Humphies was fishing for trophy trout on the White River in Arkansas.  Joe Humphies holds the Pennsylvania state record for brown trout caught on a fly (15+ lbs.).  He was using a Pfleuger Medalist reel.  I don't know if they still make them, but they use to cost around $35!

I would also suggest looking at custom build rods if you like the higher priced equipment.  I have found that custom built rods are about half the price of the factory built retail rods.  Along with the cost advantage you get to pick all of the components and wraps.

My go to setup for Putah is the Roland Martin Rocket Fishing Rod.  I can easily launch my rig into any seam, pocket, or tree on the creek with a push of a button. The rod has a great fast action that really let's me horse in those big Putah hogs and the safety bobber doubles as a critter-friendly way to show those otters who's boss. Plus, it's a blast to use!

I can't fault your rig at all, but maybe tone down that dayglo yellow and go with a more subdued hue on the barrel?

Last summer there was a little girl using one of those at the resort on putah creek, it was pretty funny, But not nearly as funny as when she shot the guy in the head standing next to her rofl.gif All she kept saying is "I'm sorry mister" ! Just so you all know Cliff really does use one of those, And he out fishes me everytime !

To all of those my drunk roommate pissed off a few weeks ago, I personally want to say I'm Sorry. I made the fatal mistake of forgetting to sign out and he thought it would be funny to start harrasing the board. I did not figure this out untill the next day when I went to check the report and realized that I had been deleted. Only then did he confess to me that in his drunken stuper he was just trying to "rock the boat" I dont know how many people he p-off but I am here to say sorry. Just know that it wasn't me but him. Ahh!!!!!! just wanting to live on my own!!!!!! F- high rent prices!!

I like Scott rods.  I have a few of them.  I also like Teon Tioga reels and own several of them.  For lines, I love SA Sharkskin lines.  I have a couple of them and hope to have a few more in the future.

scott sts 10' 6wt w/ redington cps reel sa gpx 7wt line for steelhead and hugh trout, st croix 9' 5wt w/ ross reel w/ rio grand 5wt nymph line for putah and yuba trout, tfo 7'6"ft 3wt w/ ross reel w/ sa gpx 3wt line for everything (rainbows, browns, even a steelhead or 2) redington 10' 7wt w/ teton tioga w/ rio grand 8wt nymph line for swinging to steelhead or for salmon on the trinity.

I mainly use a Elkhorn 9' 5wt 5pc (built by me) w/an Elkhorn MA-2 & Cortland 444 Sylk. When I'm on the toon, I use the same general set up, except for the rod which is an Elkhorn Traveller Series 10' 6wt.
