I fished the South Fork of the Stan yesterday and would have to say she's alive and well. The flows were perfect and the insects and fish responded to the beautiful weather.Got there at first light. It was in the mid thirties and was able to dredge up three chunky 'bows indicator nymphing. By late morning it had warmed up nicely and pods of fish rose to emergers and I switched to size 22-24 tan or gray emerger patterns to great success. A nice surprise was to find out the the guys fishing upstrem from me were Emerger and Captain! It seemed like every time I looked up their  way , one of them was playing a fish. No surprise. Those guys fish Putah successfully on regular basis which pretty much means they could guide for a living! Tight lines, Viking

Nice meeting you up there Viking. Great fishing and lots of fun. I actually was trying something a bit diiferent on sat. since I ran out of olive RS2's I trimmed down the wing and hackle on a BWO dry fly and it worked quit well, Easily 2 biggest fish I hooked were on that fly fished wet.

Otter was up there as well, I thought he had stopped by and introduced himself to you. Oh well, next time. Did you get any love on a dry?

Not on dries, but I killed 'em on # 22 tan emergers. From about 11:30 until about 2:00 the run I was fishing was full of fish sipping emergers. At times there were 15-20 fish up at once! I had a tiny indicator about 10" above the fly ( no weight ) and was just nailing them! Easily the best day I've had there in a long time. See you, Carl

Nice job guys.  I would have went over and said hi Viking, but it looked like you were having too much fun!! I only caught a few little six inch fish.  That place is really crowded!!  There were like 12 cars at that one spot and many people trying to get a little spot to fish!!furious  I would wait until the flows drop.

Hi Otter, You could have told me Pamela Anderson and Jessica Simpson were getting it on in the bushes behind me and I wouldn't have taken my eyes off the stream to watch! It was one of those days where everything aligns... The perfect weather, lots of willing fish, having the right bugs on hand... I don't get to fish with nearly the frequency I'd like, so when I'm having a day like Saturday I don't even break to eat drink or pee as often as I should! Anyway, I'm sure we'll meet one day on Putah, The Stan or somewhere. Until then, tight lines, Viking
