well had a 3day vacation so why not hit up some sierra rivers before the snow comes in. fished the little truckee tues with lilwhipper (eric) and weds with him as well as black cloud (james). all i can say is good times good times. the fishing was slow in the am on both days, but it picked up as the day progressed. tues had much better fishing thaN weds, a front came in on weds and put the fish down, but we still managed some nice quality fish both days. i got my personal best for browns on both days a 25"er on tues and a 24.5"er on weds. as well as personal best rainbow which was a 21"er on tues. average brown was about 18"s with several in the 20" bracket on both days, average rainbow was around 16-18"s with a few in the 19-21" bracket. eric had a blast and got into some beautiful fish. his biggest brown was 22"s and biggest rainbow was 20"s, with several fish in the 16-20" bracket. we both missed some big bows in the low 20s as well, and ofcourse i missed out on my big 30" brown once again, hooked 3 smaller fish in the one hole, then about 5 mins later my indicator went down and didnt move thought i was on the bottom until this monster came up and showed himself with some air shows. he gave me a few horrific headshakes and he come off. the 3wt was sweating hard on that one. the best time we had was on tues though between 2-3 in an area of about 30yrds, the hatches were great, we hooked so many fish one being my 25" brown as well as many smaller browns and rainbows, it was great, we hooked up almost every cast. all in all the best 3day vacation i have had in a long time. glad i spent it with some good fishing buds and cant wait to do it again. here are several pics of the 2 days so enjoy. oh ya and check out erics new wading boots they are hot. the 3wt got another work out those 2days, THANKS JT FOR TELLING ME TO GET A 3WT, its my new 5wt i tell ya. i think i might bring it out for steelhead. JUST PLAYIN.
HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY

We were going to go to the Trinity on Wednesday but changed plans Tues night. Definitely the right choice, Brian and Eric hammered those fish. As for me , the fish gods do not take kindly to those that are stubbornd, I got skunked. We all used the same set up, egg with a dropper, I would fish a run, nothing, they would come behind me , fish on. On the positive side I was able to practice netting fish. Brians biggest fish was the first one of the day, I was about 30 yards upstream when he hooked that brown. With that light tippet, he headed downstream, I was still tying on an egg so I dropped my road and headed downstream with the net. I was completly winded by the time we got him to the net a good 100 yards downstream. I went back upstream, got rigged up and saw Eric had a fish on above me. Next time I will bring a smaller rod.
Great job guys! Looks like the little truckee is the place to be if you wanna gat hooked up on some nice fish, except for black cloud... Sorry to hear about that skunk man. It really sucks when everyone around you is catching fish and your catching nothing. shame

It's much more important.
Black Cloud there are worse things then getting skunked. Netting is dangerous.
One of the biggest arguments I ever saw was on the Klamath. My retired neighbors (both in their 70's) were up there and the husband hooked a huge salmon from his boat. His wife tried to net it and got the hook instead, knocking the fish off. They argued for the rest of the afternoon and by the time they got home they stopped talking for a month. She never went with him to the again.
hey black cloud maybe its because you had your 15' 10" 11wt double handed spey rod. that might have been the problem, the fish saw your big stick and said no way son am i hittin that fly. they were scared bro, next time bring out the 1wt, hahaha.

What a day we had. Brian, I actually hooked into more fish on wednesday than tuesday, just no browns on wednesday. I wish you guys could have saw that beautiful rainbow I caught on wednesday night. 20 incher easy. Those slippers were amazing, and it's nice to know that sweat was the only reason my butt was moist. Let me know when you wanna go again...Maybe before the snow comes in?
