Hey I went out after the first half of the 49ers game! Much better to go fishing. Tried a new area, found a hole, and drifted it. Saw several big fish but could not entice them. The cold water prevented me from hanging out there too long.

Moved on to a typical spot and worked the rapids. I was lucky to have nobody around. After scores of attempts, made the perfect cast, saw my indicater bob, set the hook and had several nice runs. The fish felt bigger than average. I'm using a 5wt and feel that the rod was too weak to turn this guy for catch and release fishing.

Anyways the fish quickly wrapped around a rock. I couldn't wade over and get him to free when giving a bit of slack. The fish broke off at the knot with the fly. I'm not really a fan of the clinch knot but I suppose it is useful for tiny line and tiny flies. Feet was getting cold again so I left. Nice day out.
