We went out in the morning for a half day of fishing and it was completely dead all morning. I was fishing PTs, Copper Johns, hares ears and a bunch of other nymphs. Finally towards the end of the day we each got a strike and on my last cast into a little log jam i caught this little guy.
I bet that made your day though... That's what happened to me on saturday, except I was there from 6am to 5pm. Finally got into a 3 incher at sunset. Boy was I happy.
Its been tough for me as well,I'm not even seeing fish where they would normally would be podding up prior to entering the spawning areas. These areas historically would hold up to 20 to 30 fish and now I'm not seeing any! I noticed in the picture of the small rainbow that your split shot is a little too close to your fly,I like too put the shot about 10 to 12" above the fly. Yeah its kind of a small detail but small details really count especially when the creek is fishing this tough.
i went out sunday, it was very slow for me, wish i would have known the flows went up before i got out there. that kinda slowed things way down. anyways met up with black cloud once again on the creek, nice to see you again, hopefully the trinity trip with be a go in a week or so. black cloud and one of his buddy was fishing a spot that i love to hit and they wasnt doing so hot either, me and black cloud started talking for a bit then i saw a nice hatch of midges, he asked what time it was i said time to get my line wet, withing 3 casts fish on, a nice 17-18"er. ill post pic later. after they left shaun showed up and we fished a nice hole, and we both got 1 a peice small guys around 14"s. that was it for the day.

I fished on Saturday and ran into a couple of guys from the forum. We were goofing off for a while, just trying to keep our flies out of the trees. It was ridiculous. After losing about half of the flies in my box, I decided it was time to find a new spot.
I went to one of my favorite holes and surprisingly it was vacant. I saw a couple of big shadows, so I snuck in there and pulled one of them out with a #20 micromay--a nice, fat 20"er. I hooked a couple of others on a #24 midge: one straightened my hook and the other spit the hook after a good jump (both were over 20"). This action took place in a 15 minute window and then went dead, so I moved on. All the other holes I wanted to fish already had a few guys standing in them, but I managed to find a couple willing fish in not-so-prime spots.
Anyway, it was a great day to get away. I should have been at home studying. I had (have) tons of work to do, but I needed a break. Here I go wasting time again. I better get back to the books.

JT, You lost half your flies, but how many flies did you get back once we cut the tree down? Shon, I still have your soft hackle fly. I'm gonna use it on the little truckee.
I went up again on monday and lost a few more in that dam tree, Theres also a new snag right in the middle of that run that grabed me at least 3 times, Man I saw a log float down on sunday and I'm thinking it sunk right there. The action has been a bit slow for me, fished sat. sun. and mon. And never got more then a few fish in a day. Biggest about 18 inches. There are no fish in some spots were I'd really expect to see em at this time. Good luck with that soft hackle whippersnapper, Its a money fly for me pretty consistantly on putah, And that'll be $1.95 please .
hey lil whippersnapper, ill be up on the lil t tomorrow, got a birdy that told me some flys that are hot up there, ill be tying some up and if they work i have from tomorrow night till next monday to tie some more up, so ill have some of your flys covered, but there will be some that i cant tie and ill give you that list.
