hey all i've fished the creek sence i was a kid and consider it a very special place.
I resently have started bird hunting and think it's a lot of fun to tye my flys with the feathers that i have gotten from  my  birds.
I found  on the d.f.g. wed sight that on the hills above the creek there is a wild life area that you can hunt on !!!!!
Has anyone tryed hunting up there and what was it like???? i know it's probly some steep terain but could be worth it becuse i've seen lots of goblers and quail around the creek.
Thanks for any imput you might have and  happy holidays !!!!!

It's steep and supprisingly not that much area.  Turkey and quail mostly with small predators but you might get lucky and find a legal deer.  In other nearby areas there are wild pigs but your dreaming if you expect to find them on the wildlife area.   On the downside, legal or not, people will scream bloody murder when you start shooting as it's rather close to the public.

Thats defenitly a small peice of public land. Has anyone ever hunted the cedar roughs area ? I think that area has just been expanded. I'd like to give some pig hunting a try, I used to do alot of predator calling for yotes in eastern washington, Would really like to get back into that. It just seems to me that overall california is not at all hunter freindly.

Probably no pigs at Cedar Roughs sorry.  Lots of turkey and quail back over in that area.  When I head over to that side of the lake I usually see and or hear a few coyotes.

I have a freind that used to do a lot of coyote hunting up near Portola with a 22-250.  It seems coyotes are just about everywhere in Ca. though sniping them in east L.A. will probably get you in trouble.

There is always something in open season in Ca.  The trick is finding where the game is on public land.  The DFG site is just a very small slice of the pie.  I suppose if you tie bugs with the fur and feathers it still fits in a flyfishing forumweirdface

Hey Shon if you're interested in a really good pig hunt in the Red Bluff area give my friend a call, he is a guide and runs a real class act buisness. Myself and my son have taken 3 nice pigs in three separate outings.Joel has access to thousands of acres and he always knows where the piggys are. Here is his contact info: Nor cal outfitters  Joel Macias 530-941-9380. He also does turkey quail and salmon with his river boat.

That is the biggest & ugliest pig that I have ever seen. It'll be awhile before I can eat bacon again.
