well was out on the water about 7:30, steam coming off. what i lovely site. there were a few guys fishing my go to spot so i decided to cross and fish the north side of the river. for a big fat GOOSE EGG. they where having some good times, saw them hooking up, loosing a few and landing about 2 or 3. in about an hour. i really worked hard today. fished the east end of the island my usual spot for a big 0, fished the west end, for a big 0 not even a bump, fished a nice back eddy that jt told me about, lots of fish movement, but a big 0. i then fished right across the bay area, where you have the canyon wall. some fish movement in there for a big 0. so i was about to call it a day, when i said to myself that i need to give my chute one more try. when i got there a worm tosser was fishing it. bouncing on the bottom, i was thinking he would have had some luck. hell no a big 0. this guy was funny though, i decided to give the flat section of water just past the chute a try, and he was telling me that i shouldnt go past my knees because of the current, that i should you a green bug or red bug. i just keep on saying thanks i appreciate it. well worked that area for a bit about 45 mins, then the dfg zip code guys should up, and me and the worm tosser started talking, good guy he means well, then he takes off, i have the whole stretch to myself, i fished my chute for about 15mins to give the area that he was tossing in a break, and sure enough 2nd cast i hooked up, this fish fought hard, came out of the water several times, and even took some line out on me. he wasnt big, just shy of 20"s. about 5 cast later in the same spot, something big took me for a ride. i had about half my fly line out and he took off, almost all my fly line came out, finally worked him back to me where i could see my orange tip on my fly line, and he came undone. never got to see him, gave me some really hard headshakes, and that run was awsome. oh well. you win some you lose a lot more. fished it for another 45mins for a few more bumps but that was it.
here is the lil guy i caught today.
hopefully jt, dtp, or myself will have a nice post for you all with pics from the yuba tomorrow.

riffles and deep pools below them. right now hard to say, you have to really know the river. i have been fishing it hard for 2 yrs now, and still come up with big goose eggs this time of yr. you just have to find the fish. fish an area that looks good for an hour or so, if you dont get anything move on and find another nice riffle or deep pool below on. thats all i can say. dont want to give up my secrets quite yet. but if you are ever out on the AR, and you see a nice white lifted jeep wrangler, more than likely i am close by, or just down the river.
pm me, maybe we can hook up sometime soon.
i am debating on fishing putah or the AR on weds if you can go. just shoot me a pm.
