A buddy and I went to the creek this morning. I was surprised by the amount of people that showed up at 7 am at the bridge. What a beautiful day it was on the river. I did not catch a thing but my buddy caught a putah hog. 20" and fat as a football.
To the guy that was teaching the young red headed kid how to fish. Perhaps you should take some lessons in etiquette before you start teaching up and coming fishermen. In case your wondering, I was nymphing in the riffle below the bridge and this guy comes up and stands at the end of my drift and starts casting. I tried to drop a hint that you were too close but I guess being the selfish oaf that you are, it fell on deaf ears. you know who you are.
Putah Creek at the Bridge can get very crowded. I stopped fishing there when it is crowded a long time ago. One thing I think everyone should know about the area is that it is much more fun if you actually talk to people in your vicinity. When I used to fish the bridge area when it was busy everyone used to ask if they could fish in the area of other people. In most cases if you at least ask, people will allow you to slip into an area. On several occasions there were at least eight people fishing in a thirty foot stretch of the creek. People would time their casts and keep an open conversation. When a fish was caught others would stop casting. It was a good time on the creek and everyone was catching fish. Keep in mind fishing should be fun!!
Otter, I do agree with you. I have no problem with sharing the creek. The approach and attitude is what ticked me off. The fact that he hooked a fish within minutes did not help my ego either. Ha Ha.
