With all the talk of you guys hitting up the Big T soon, here's an effective crayfish pattern for the Truckee that I'd like to share. It's Tim Haddon's Dead Drift Crayfish. Andy Burk turned me onto this fly a few years back. I always keep a few on my Truckee River chest pack insert.
The two videos are from Andy's Youtube page. Each video is roughly 10 minutes long.
JT watched me bring in a nice 'bow on this pattern last summer around 7 in the morning. He couldn't believe I was using a fly this big......but that's just how I roll
i got a few crawfish patterns and cant wait to give those and some goblins a try for some late night brown fishing. it should be some good fun. just hope someone brings a digital camera cuz all i will have is my dispos. hahaha

I think the big fish landed went to Matt and that brown. He was using a simple white nymph, ribbed and a black bead head.
I may have had the biggest fish not landed on either a birds nest or another experimental fly I tied. I think it was the birds nest though since that's what the others got fooled with.
Thanks for the link Abelboy. I never used a crayfish pattern. So i went thru the video tied up one of those just like homeboy did on youtube. And boom fish on in like 3 drifts. Had a couple more fish on before I lost it to the bottom. Now I have 2 in the box.
