i have a redington redfly2 10ft 7wt 4pc medium fast action rod up for sale. great rod and is only 8 months old. bought it at the begining of this yr for steelhead season and it worked great. the reason for the sale is i recently bought a teton tioga magnum 8wt reel and want to match it to an 8wt rod. the redlfy2 rods go for 180 online as well as the local stores, it is used but in great shape and great condition, so make me an offer and we can go from there. if interested pm me or call me at 530-354-3740 i know its a 530 number but i do live in sacramento.
i would also be willing to trade for a rod in an 8wt.

Brian, I'm sure Al and Gary would love to sell you a rod, but you don't necessarily need an 8 weight rod for that reel unless you really want to replace your rod. You have a 10 foot rod. The extra mass due to the increased length should balance out the mass of the reel, backing, and line. The first thing you should do is put your reel on the rod to see if if the rod feels balanced with the reel.
For what it's worth, I use a reel that is designed for a 9 weight on my 8 weight. The balance feels fine.

Edit: Just a thought. With an 8 weight, you'll have a Striped Bass rod!
i was actually just thinking the same thing. but i am also not a big fan of the 10ft. and i was at american fly yesterday and they have a 9 and 9.6ft redington redfly2 8wt right now. they will already said they would give me a great deal on a trade in and buy a new one. so we shall see. ill have my reel tues or weds the latest i hope so that way i can use it with my 6wt rod or 7wt rod depending on where i go, if i go to the yuba then ill put it on the 6wt redfly2, as well as bringing my 5wt, if i go to the feather then ill bring my 7wt.
