I had a great day Saturday with a few friends on our annual trek in Yosemite. As usual, they continued along the trail to Half Dome while I fished for a few hours along the Merced and a tributary.  Unfortunately, this year's trip was scheduled earlier in the season rather than later in July or early August.  The flows were screaming around 1,000 cfs and quite cold!  I was still able to land a handful of juveniles.  Most were found along the bank, nestled in among the downed trees and limbs in the SAW sections...Glad I brought the extra strength bug juice--the mosquitos were terrible!!!

Thanks. Little Yosemite Valley lies upstream from Nevada Fall, at an elevation of 6,100 feet. A hike-in campground is located about 4.5 miles from the trailhead in Yosemite Valley and about 2.5 miles from the summit of Half Dome. The climb from the valley floor to LYV is around 2,500 feet. Half Dome is to the right of that picture...The rainbow in that last picture squirted away from me before I could get a cleaner shot!
