Whos going to be at Putah this weekend?

I am pretty sure I will be going tommorow and saturday. I will be camping on the resort side, so I will be fishing that area of the river. Haven't been to Putah in days! Got bit by the bass bug and have been concentrating on them for awhile. I have caught some pigs too!
Anyways, what has been working lately? I am gonna try out nymphing for the first time, so I'll see how that works out. Bringing my float tube too just in case there is a spot I can fish safely. I would bring my pontoon, but thats too much hassle.

I was out for a couple hours this AM.  Lots of bait guy's, water is pretty high, had three on, one to the net @ maybe 12".  First time out since my back surgery, so it was allright.  I had hoped the water would be a little lower, I forgot to check before I left the house.

Oh well, it will take me some time to get back in the Putah swing I guess.  I hope to get out a little more often, now that I'm up and running again.

I got the good ol el skunko! Oh well, I am still a noob at flyfishing and still learning the ropes. I got to go out and buy a bunch of flies that work well at Putah. I only saw two trout, but neither was interested in my flies. Yes that is at Contra Loma and I was using jigs and the second one was caught on a huddleston.

Although I haven't fished Contra Loma in 6 or 7 years, it used to be an interesting place.  I'd be fishing the lake for trout, but I'd catch bass, crappie, bluegill and carp in addition to trout.  I didn't catch many trout, but I did manage to land a 22 incher on a wooly bugger.  The trout's color was about as washed out as any fish I had ever seen.  I also saw a guy catch a trout around 7 pounds.  However, he was fishing for stripers and caught the fish on a striper jig!

I wouldn't make the trip Brian, All the trout are planted, its almost always windy as hell there, its hot, and its not very eye appealing. If I was to fish there it would be for largemouth and thats about it. Even the stripers are there by accident, they made there way in via an irragation ditch, they are not planted in there. Used to be a swimming area in the lake there, they had to shut it down do to human feces in the water. I think I'll pass. Its near antioch.

Its a great lake for bass, crappie, and bluegill. Maybe the human feces is what made all the fish so big! The trout action is best in the winter when they do all the planting and the water is cooler. I agree its not a very nice looking lake, but it makes up for it in the fishing. I live 5 minutes from it, and have a season pass that pays for everything, so its not a hassle to go there for me. I go almost everyday!
