Got my swap bugz in the mail today. Thanks to everyone who tied, I know we all get busy. Some awesome ties here in front of me and it goes to show you should tie your own! They are all great, but who tied the GB wd40 pattern, very nice, and also the red wire caddis pupa, diver, emerger? I took off my toe tags so I can't rememer. Both the hare's ear style patterns are great and Chris' caddis is sweet. JT's midge seems to have evolved slightly since he gave me one almost two years ago. And hey, what else is there to say about orange and black?
I got my bugz in the mail yesterday too. They all look fantastic! I had a chance to go fishing last night and JT's spent midge put me onto some nice fish. One fish in particular put up a 15 minute fight before finally breaking my tippet. I'm want to put in an order for a dozen of those. Thanks to everyone, I can't wait to try the rest of them.
I tied the red wire caddis pupa. I think you are referring to the pheasant tail that I tied in as an overwing of sorts. It's just the left-overs of the tail fibers. Or did you mean the dubbing?
JT's midge seems to have evolved slightly since he gave me one almost two years ago.
You got to see the first prototype. That day we fished was probably the second day I fished the fly. The fly has evolved a little; it's a little smaller and the splayed Z-lon wing became a loop wing. And it still catches fish. I can't wait to try out all these flies!
