Hit the creek a number of time over the last couple of months...Fishing has been great.Plenty of wild fish and the first year fish are starting to show in good numbers.Ive been catching fish in some pretty odd places.I think some of the bigger fish have pushed the smaller guys(12"-14") out of the main runs.With higher flows they are now moving back into the main runs with the bigger fish..
Ive been using patterns that I favor earlier in the season..Everything seems to be a month or two behind what I consider normal and it's been the same on a lot of other nor cal waters as well.Iam starting to get a way with using larger flys ,now that the flows are up a bit.One more worthy tip that been paying off with the higher flows.When the sun is high I focus more on the shaded or covered water or up tight to the bank on the deeper runs.So dont step into the water till you have taken a good look.We get use to fishing our favorite spots the same way over and over.Oh ya.if you dont own any micro may's size 14 you might want to pick up a couple dozen...
