So, I got out very late, (around 6:45) and fished till dark.
Was a perfect evening, with no wind, 75 degree temps and a pretty good stone fly, baetis and midge hatch. Not many caddis.
Not much surface action from 6:45 until 8:00 or so, but then as soon as it got almost too dark to see a small caddis on the surface, I picked up 4 little guys, and had a bunch more grabs.
Wasn't crazy good like last year, but encouraging nonetheless. Lately, it has seemed like the little guys have been gone. Perhaps they're finally adjusting to the higher flows and moving back into traditional spots.
Thanks for the report JL. Please be sure to post on Angler Survey. Through March there were only a handful of small fish reported in the survey responses.
