In 2003, there were about 70 salmon spotted in Putah below the diversion dam. There have been relatively few since then. They have closed or will likely close both commercial and sport salmon seasons this year all over because of poor returns. Since there was talk of a possible salmon sighting in Putah below the diversion dam this weekend at the cleanup......I wanted to draw attention to a bill that Lois Wolk is sponsoring to require state and federal agencies to mitigate the damage caused to fisheries by the delta pumping projects since the pumping projects were built. This would be huge if it were passed.

Maybe one of these days we can be talking about fishing for rainbows sitting behind salmon redds in Putah! Sorry for the bait and switch but it is for a good cause.
