Just thought I would say Hi!

Hello Everyone, I Joined a day or so ago, and thought I would use my first post to say hello! I am a freshman at San Francisco State University, and am getting back into flyfishing (took a 6 year break for what ever reason) Anyway, my roommate and I are planning on coming out to Putah Creek the weekend after next for some fishing for the first time in a while. While researching the creek I stumbled across this messageboard and decided it could be a most valuable resource. Anyway Hope to see some of you out there!

Cybnew,

Welcome aboard.  This message board can be a very valuable resource of information on the creek.  You can the "keyword search" feature to review past posts for specific information that you are seeking.  Putah has been known to treat newcomers pretty rough.  Do some research first.  Good luck on the creek.

Welcome Cybnew--Yes, check out older posts! Very helpful.

Oh, just a heads-up:  If you are planning on hitting Putah next weekend, be sure to properly treat/clean your boots and waders, especially with Opening Day around the corner...A lot has happened in last six years with NZMS.

I know someone out there can help me with a link...Thanks!

Here's a link to a brochure on how to clean your wading equipment so you don't transport NZ Mud Snails.

Thanks for the pointers! I will be sure to use the search function (I am an avid believer in searching before posting on message boards) Thanks for the tips about the waders too...dont think it will be too much of a problem for me though as mine havent hit the water yet :)

Welcome Cybnew, Good luck on your journey to figuring out putah creek, it can be tough. Watch for poison oak its really starting to grow now, I got it last week. With the warmer weather on its way there's countless oppurtunities in northern california besides putah.

Thanks for the tip about Poison Oak...Not a real big fan of it. Grew up with it all around the ranch I lived on, got it real bad one summer when a wildfire raged near where I lived and I inhaled some of the smoke...Gotta love Technu, HC Derma Pax and Prednizone though! :)

I'm not sure if you misunderstood flying dutchman, but make sure you clean them after you hit Putah. There are NZMS already in putah, so you don't wanna transport them to any other bodies of water.
