The flows just jumped up above 500 cfs.  I think it's time to break out the float tube.

I was actually thinking of taking out the pontoon boat on Monday or Tuesday, so it looks like good timing for that and a wading staff.

Use alot of weight, wade carefully, and start planning those sierra summer trips.

A few days ago when the flows were around 300 my clients did pretty good especially the size of the fish were impressive. But now with these flows hovering around 450-500 cfs thats all changed.Even fewer places to fish and tougher fishing. You have to fish the seams and edges and as the Captain said use alot of weight.Be sure to use an indicator that is big enough to stay afloat with the larger amount of weight. Also if you are fishing within rods reach try taking the indicator off and high stick some of the pockets. And lastly be really carefull when wading.

Hit the creek today and the big fish are in there usual spots. A float tube is needed. The wind was tough, but the fishing was good. I like to call it the poor mans lower sac. Drift a size 20 micromayfly and hold on. The fish have regained their weight and strength!!!

If you haven't float tubed Putah before, be very careful. Solano County requires that you use a floatation device (life vest) on the Creek. Walk the area before you even put in. Make sure you have a put in and take out. The safest area is below the island at #5. Anywhere above is extremely dangerous and people have drowned. I have seen several people injured and Bono has seen worse. Do not use one of those round float tubes they are very dangerous. Beyond that you can use indicators or sinking lines. Most of the fish are by weed beds.
