Me, cappy, and packrat hit the yuba yesterday. We walked a couple miles up river to chucks spot and waited for a hatch which started around 1. Fish started to rise, but didn't want our perfect immitations of what they were eating(pmds, march browns, and some stones). All three of us had a take, but none to hand. We left that spot and headed back toward the bridge where we met a guy that was slamming them all day. We learned that those fish were feeding just under the surface, so if we used nymphs, we probably would have caught a few of those risers. Started fishing around the bridge and I lost one right away. I never saw it, but it felt like an ok fish. I moved down river a little bit and hooked one for a second and lost it. Then a couple drifts later I got another take and finally landed it 20 minutes later. He got me in some fast water and took me way down river, 100 yards I'm guessing. I caught a 15 incher after that and a 10 incher after that. Fish were rising like crazy at dark. I went 3 for 5 with all fish on a 16 tan fox pupah. I went to putah today and got skunked, so yuba is my new favorite river. You guys are right, these yuba trout fight harder than any other trout I've caught in my life. It was nice meeting you Rich. It is Rich right? I kinda forgot.

LilWhippersnapper, that is a chunky fish! I've been waiting for a report. I haven't fished in four weeks, so the reports with pictures are always nice. I took my last final on Saturday, so I'll make it out a couple of times this week. I would have snuck out on Friday between finals, but I was running a fever of 103 deg.

Thats was a nice fish whippersnapper, I saw that dude make some killer jumps. Although I didnt catch anything it was a good day of fishin. Lots of bugs, lots of fish rising. Just a bit frustrating.
I still can't figure out why we never switched back to nymphs. I was saying all day, "I don't think these risers are eating on the surface." The guy we talked to later in the day confirmed what we thought...oh well.
Yeah whippersnapper, it's Rich. We'll see you out there again.
Did you guys mention to Brian how he's famous in Northern California? We were talking to a guy and the subject of the Putah message board came up and we told him our screen names. He said he lurked but doesn't really post. Then he asked if we knew that guy Brian who's been fishing the American...we laughed and let it go at that
Yeah packrat, You told me from the beginning that the fish were feeding on emergers. I shoulda kept that emerger on.
Yeah Brian, he asked if I could give him your number so you could teach him a few things on the American... I told him no, he'll have to ask you on here. Brian, have you been fishing lately? I haven't seen any reports from you in awhile.
i have been fishing the american still about once a week, went out today and last weds and still hittin fish, thanks for not giving out my number. but ya i still go out just dont post about it much anymore. just wanna go out and have my fun, come home and sleep.
