Chris,

Thanks for the link. A good while back, a similar concern was posted on another website for the Calaveras...guess more angry landowners?!

MY LORD THAT IS SOME GOOD LOOKIN WATER ! If you scroll up a bit with that map lightfoot provided theres a bunch of cars parked just below the dam, Is it cool to park and fish from there ? How do you get there ? I wanna hit that spot tomorrow defenitly.

Those cars are parked at the base of Englebright dam on a PG&E access road. I always accessed it by parking at the lake boat launch and paddling across to the other side. It takes about 20 minutes to carry a raft down that road. There is a LOT of great looking water in the narrows but not all of hit holds fish. Historically they seemed to be congregated in just a few spots.

There is more information regarding that stretch of water on the witewater rafting/kayaking forums. If you go please do some prior research and take all safety precausions. It is NOT a casual adventure and one accidental drowning could potentially shut down that stretch of the river for everybody.

for the lazy

The UCD field station site access varies from month to month and year to year. Last year at least some of the permits were issued thru DFG lottery. Other times FF clubs have the permits to issue for a week, month, etc; I recall that Granite Bay FF had a drawing recently. I don't have a link to the UC Davis site, but it should show up on Google. Here is a link to adiscussion on Yuba access:

Here's the website for the UCD field station. Good luck trying to navigate it and trying to find about access. There is a number you can call though, so all hope is not lost.

I was trying to get access here but was never successful. Even though I'm a UCD student I was told to go thru the DFG unless I'm doing a research project.
