Thats so funny, I was looking at that fly yesterday on the orvis website i think it was. Interesting fly but I wouldn't bother, Seems like a really desperation fly, A san juan worm and an egg. But the name is cool. They also showed some other new "inavative fly's".
I was just looking at this fly again, and it reminded me of a setup I used a lot as a kid--a nightcrawler topped with a marshmallow. I don't know why, but that rig caught tons of trout.

Been there done that,I called it an" egg sucking san juan" and guess what?Never caught a damn thang with it,although I havent used it that much either.
Ok !I know this going to sound stupid...lets make a challenge out of this fly...lets see who can catch something on this...any fish with a fly rod counts...Im pretty sure I can land a golden rainbow (sucker) on one..I know just the spot on the feather and lower sac...Im in it to win it . who's with me..
Hey JW.I need a few of these flys tied up...I want the egg in yellow and the worm brown.size 6...thanks good buddy checks in the mail...
Fishing isnt about catching fish, its not about who caught the most, or who caught the biggest, its about the experience that you have on the water, and the life long bonds you make with others on the journey to becoming a better person inside.
the pic on the left is actually the new world record rainbow caught in saskatoon canada i think. The guy caught it on a spinner, I think its around 42 lbs. Now thats a freakin PIG !
Hello. I'm new to this forum. I was browsing and came across this thread. I can attest to this patterns effectiveness; had many good days using it. I thought I might try it after I saw this video on Hook.TV. Check it out.
