I was reading through RJ's website and he seems to like Hogan's flies.  Does anyone have a pattern for the S and M or the Red Headed Step Child?  Hey MX 19 are these flies as good as he says?

Tying instructions for a Hogan's S&M nymph can be found at: stevenojai.tripod.com/instsm.htm.  I only used the fly a couple of times so I can't give any feedback about it's effectiveness.  A guy at Sweeney's sports says it's really effective, though.

Hogan's flies are so sweet. He's nutty about entomology. It is very effective at imitating baetis nymphs.

what can I say about hogans bag of bugs...that man has saved my butt many times...you can get his S&M's at sweeneys in napa as well as a few other must have bugs...buy a bunch cause you never know when hes going to call it quits...
S&M works well on the feather, yuba, sac, putah, trinity, and just about any other trout water you can find....not only are his flys killer , he is a wicked awsome guide...

to answer you question.YES load up on them.both patters work ery well....

Thanks everyone it looks like a great fly. I would say it looks like a cross between Mercer's Micro Mayfly and Sloan's Mighty Mite, both very good flies. Maybe that is where the S and M comes from. Anyone have a pic of the Red Headed Stepchild?

Hogan's Better Baetis is a good fly when the visibility isn't so good (low-light conditions or murky water).

All of Hogan's flies can be found at Idylwilde Flies website:
http://www.idylwilde.com/
You can click on fly gallery and at the bottom there is a search function, just type in hogan and it will bring all of his flies up.
