It's been a while but I finally got out on Friday for a few hours. I was in a favorite spot using a zebra midge under a San Juan worm and got a strong strike on the first cast. The indicator went down hard and then I'm guessing about a 16-18" trout jumped a couple of feet in the air. Within seconds it spit the the fly. Not to worry - with a strike on the first cast this was going to be a productive 3 hours, right? Right. Well, 3 hours later and not one more strike to show for it no matter where I fished or what I used.
That sounds like Putah. At least you were on the creek. I was stuck at school all morning and work in the afternoon/evening. I'm itching to try out a new rod.

Well at leas you got a strike. I was there at about 5pm used many different combos as well. The water looked pretty good. usually I see a few fish this time of year but not a thing. And usually 4pm till dark pans out pretty good. O well. Try it again.

hay has anyone ever had a fish "croak" at you? yesterday when I was putting the fish back in the water it turned looked at me and croaked just like a frog....
When you hold the fish to tight they will make that sound...could of been that.. I have not heard of a beer fly on putah so Im going with my first guess..
