I've done it before elsewhere. Here's how it works. We would need 12 tiers. You each tie 13 of your fly of choice. Send them to me with enough return postage so I'm not covering for anyone. Once I get all the flies from each of the 12 guys I'll put one fly from each tier in a set and mail the mixed set back out to each tier. Each guy gets 11 different flies and 1 of their own. There will be 1 extra set that we can either auction off, donate to someone on the board or do something else with it to be decided later. If you guys are up for it, I will coordinate. Let's try to get 12 different patterns so if you want in list what you'll tie so the next guy knows what not to tie. Let also make a cutoff to get me the flies, say by March 1st for now.
I'll be #1 and tie a goblin.
As you reply add what number you are so others will know when we've reached the limit of 12 tiers. If this is successful we can do it again.
now is that a spent midge or a jt minute midge. hahaha
wish i had a vise so i could practice the brian c's fox pupah and add it to the list. maybe next time guys. i would love to see pics of these flies though.

Hey guys, I think a good idea would be to have a theme for the swap. Since we already have a bunch of Putah flies, maybe that should be the theme for this swap. Maybe steelhead? Just some ideas to make it easier for people to decide. Also another idea that I have done with other swaps is to put toe tags with your name and the name of the fly on each hook that way we know where they came from.
I'm in for sure. A lot of my flies are Putah flies but I can do whatever. A theme could be cool, like mays, or caddis. Flyfishing and tying journal does tying contests and they give four awards. I have thought many times of sending off some bugs. There are some great tyers out there. Where's Otter at?
Flyfishing has been slow, so I have been out snowboarding and motocrossing!!! The fly swap is a great idea. I will tie up some hare's ear emergers. The hare's ear emergers are pretty easy, so if I have time I will try to throw in some midge emergers
Yeah I'll join. Should I tie the midge pattern or steelhead pattern I posted? The person that ties the flies should put the toe tags on before sending them.
I think I'm going to give you an original pattern. The flies already being tied are some of my favs so I'll go into the library of Cole and find something. They are all proven patterns so you'll dig em. Let me know when I need to send them and I'll include a toe tag. I'll give you a biot RS2!
I think I originally said to get flies to me by March 1st but since we don't have all 12 tiers yet we'll probably have to extend the date. It won't hurt to get them in early though.
I like the sound of a biot RS2, I usually just use dubbing. Do you do it with the ribbing outward or smooth?
Got my flies in the mail today. However I forgot to attach tags on them... sorry... Packrat let me know if you want me to send you some tags for the flies otherwise I can just post the pattern online. Looking forward to seeing everyones
