ya that think is a hog, thats the one that took me 50yrds down stream. get him in to grab him by his tail and he would take off, normally fish would go upstream, not this one, downstream another 5-7yrds and did this about 7 times before i rushed in for the grab. but what a fish, thought the rod was gonna break, and same with the tippet. got to love medium action rods. what a great fight.

Brian , Amazing hog!!! That is a real putah pig right there! FYI fish will generally swim along the path of least resistance when threatened which is downstream not upstream. I have rarely ever had to fight a fish upstream, if you think about it it wouldn't make any sense for a big fish like that to fight against you and the current when it could just get in the current and swim away. chuck

not that you say that, i have had that problem with with bigger fish, the smaller more frisky fish that i have caught go upstream on me.

Yeah that makes more sense. The little ones tend to go all over the place since they have so much energy, but the pigs tend to conserve their energy and use it in short bursts like when you try to grab ther tail. chuck
