The flows dropped back down into the 60's this morning. Does anyone what know what the current water clarity is like in the creek and the lake? The lake level was at about 82% of capacity as of Monday. It's still got a way to go before the Glory Hole spills. Last year it made it to about 93% of capacity if I remember right.

What up JT, Have no clue about the creek been riding for the past 4 days and the powder was sick everday especially yesterday, DEEP! The way this winters been going I'm thinking the hole is gonna spill sooner or later and some folks think its unfishable now, just wait.
As of Sunday the it was muddy, 12" vis or less. I went up to the lake and the water is much clearer up there. Still has that glacial silt, milky blue-green, coloration but much clearer. It looked like the water that was gushing out down below the dam was stirring up a lot of silt in the creek. There was a big difference between the two.
Fishing isnt about catching fish, its not about who caught the most, or who caught the biggest, its about the experience that you have on the water, and the life long bonds you make with others on the journey to becoming a better person inside.
I'm curious about the big spikes in the flows at the beginning of each week. It's pretty consistent. I know some people thought that it was because they were cleaning some part of the system and until they were done we could expect that it would continue. That was at least a month ago, they must be done by now.
highly doubt it will spill over into the glory hole, I looked last weekend and its not close at all. I'd have to guess a good 50 feet at least from going over. Way to go Emerger !!!!!!
That's the link that I use. From this site you can look at the reservoir elevation and see how much higher the water has to rise before it spills over (max = 456 feet). As of 27 Jan 2008, the lake was at 424.75 feet, so the water has to rise another 31.25 feet to spill over the Glory Hole. As of 27 Jan 2008, the volume of water behind the dam was estimated to be 1319354 acre-feet. The storage capacity of the dam is 1602000 acre-feet. If you divide the current value by the maximum value, it will give you the percentage of capacity. The value for the 27th is the most current value. As of this date, the lake was at 82.36% of capacity.

Hey I live in Vacaville and there is a puta creek diversion cannel that I drive by everyday. Today I drove by and It was brown I didnt see any green in the water. It is the worst I have seen it this year. That is a ways down stream I know but it has been a pretty good gauge for me. But I havent been to the creek for 2 weeks. That sucks.

I apologize for giving you bad info about the Solano County Water Agency website. They used to keep the web site up to date. I have sent them an email asking them if they intend to ever keep it current again. I will let you know if anyone ever responds.
I haven't received any email back from the Solano County Water Agency yet, but someone did respond to my email. They updated the data in the website to Jan 28, 2008. The results for Lake Berryessa: water level: 424.75 ft rim of Glory Hole: 439.96 ft i.e. lake is 15.21 ft. below the Glory Hole Lake is 82.5% full
It remains to be seen if they will continue to update this web site weekly.
Its a long concrete tube nearr the Monticello Dam that acts as an overflow protection for the top of the dam. If you have looked inside your toilet tank you eill see the same type of tube (only much smaller). When the lake reaches the top of the GH tube, its starts spilling through and roaring out the base of the dam. That when you can see flows up to 9000 cfs. If you look at the phoyo album you'll see the effect of GH flow on the creek valley.
Two years ago the creek hit flows of 7000 cfs, so I went up and took a few shots, which are posted below. It was quite a sight and made fishing impossible most of that winter. The left picture is the glory hole and the right one is taken from the bridge by the resort looking downstream.
you think someone could make it out alive if they took a raft or something down that thing.

I've been on the inside of the hole looking out and up. You can just barely see the light of day. Also its not a straight drop there's an elbow built in before you hit the flats of the 30' pipe

Hey, on the left of that picture of putah is one of my favorite holes when the water is lower.
Just for fun, as well as the knowledge, it would appear from the flows/gaging page that the creek rises or falls approximately 4.4"-5.4" in depth for every 100 CFS change in flow (Jan 28: 2.2 ft/600cfs change= 0.36 x 12"=4.4").
