Ready to hear from a newbie?

Hello to all! I am new to this website and new to Fly Fishing.
No subject here just would like to say that I cant wait to learn more about this amazing sport. Just to see a fish being caught by delivering most natural presentation absolutely blows my mind. Thank you God for giving us such  beautiful rivers and lakes to fish.

I am currently residing in San Ramon ( Pleasanton area) and would love to hook up with anyone that could show me the basics of FlyFishing.

Take care-- Mike

Welcome Worthy.  I also recommend getting together with Bono at least once.  I am a newbie also; fished all my life but just started fly fishing over a year ago.  Started out with a half day w/Bono and it was well worth it.  Just stay patient and keep at it.  It's rarely the newbie that catches those pigs you are seeing.

My biggest tip though...respect the waters you're fishing.  As you have probably read etiquette is pretty important.  Plus, you'll tend to meet more people and get more help if you do the same.

Go to the Pleasanton Fly fishing show February 22-24 at the fairgrounds, lots of info to be found there. Attend as many presentations as you can.

I say Bono because, I don't think it would be right for someone on this site, Bono's site, to take you fishing and take away a potential client from Bono.

Well Gentleman -- Thanks for the welcomes. I will be sure to look up Bono in the Spring for a lesson and will definitely attend the FlyFishing show later this month at the Alameda Fairgrounds. Until then, you might find me at Shadow Cliffs practicing my casting.

Take care, Mike

Mike, you may want to go to a local flyfishing store and see if they have tape or dvd rentals.  Most do.  There are videos on casting, fishing nymphs, aquatic insects and just about any subject related to flyfishing.  The rentals are usually very reasonable and they can speed up your learning curve.

There are fly shops that give casting lessons...not sure of any in your area but theres one here in sacramento

( Americanflyfishing.com )

if your willing to make a trip...I took it, it was phenominal very cheep 40-50 bucks for an hour or so....class size is like 3-5 people so lots of individual care......check it out :)

Leland no longer has a Lafayette location. Creative Sports is in Pleasant Hill.
