I caught my 3rd and 4th trout ever. Both big ones, I'd say about 20-24". Longer than my computer keyboard which is about 18" (thinking like the striper fisherman that I am). I actually hooked two more - the first one pulled and was immediately gone. The second hydroplaned and was gone in 2 seconds. They were so big my 5wt was almost overmatched. It took me almost 3 hours to find the right fly and that was almost by accident because my set of "the typical" Putah creek flies didn't work and I had almost ran out of flies (my knots, breakoffs on no 5 tippet - I have a hard time tying tiny line)
It was a nice cool day with lots of sunshine. The water is getting clearer compared to Sunday. Time to reload on flies.

With all this talk about measuring fish, I never thought of bringing my computer keyboard fishing with me. That's a great idea. Does it fit in your vest, or do you just tuck it in your waders?

haha i didn't think of it that way. i usually can spread my hands out to measure 18" from previous experience but while I was typing I noticed the keyboard that way.
no, i haven't been participating in any thread discussions about measuring fish. you all will have to take my word for it and try to catch them yourselves
