Canyon Creek Resort?

Who here has a membership to them? I want to find some fishing buddies to meet with next time I go camping there. I am only 17 and just getting into flyfishing. Loving it so far. Coming from pretty much only bass fishing, this is a challenge. Caught me some pigs from a local lake 5 minutes from me. Caught off some Bill Lewis lures.

Ummmm...by the looks of it I don't think any of those trout made it back to the water. Those pics are like child porn....never like to see those kind of pics. But I won't preach catch and release, more power to you!

That looks like it could be Amador????

I myself am a catch and release person, but I had forgotten my tools that day, and I asked some guys on the dock to remove my hook, and since he already grabbed the trout by its gills (I was mad when he did that, but I didnt want to say anything because he was nice enough to help me, it was super hard landing that fish without a net and in a float tube), and made it bleed severely, I said he could keep it. The other trout that guy in the boat is holding (I caught it), was released. I don't use bait at all. I was using a Bill Lewis lipless crank bait. I was targeting bass, but I guess that trouts in there really like them too. I am just starting to get into fly fishing though.

And yes that was most likely me in the float tube. I know I was using salmon eggs, but that was because I gave up on fly fishing since I did not have the right flies. But, I bought the flies that were recommended to use at Putah. So now I am ready. I am sorry for posting those pics of the bleeding trout, but I was just so proud to catch them. I just wish they were on flies and in putah creek!

And no, that was at Contra Loma. 5 minutes from my house. It is where I do most of my fishing.

FR0G,
I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I just want to clarify something.  You said that you don't use bait at all.  Salmon eggs are considered bait.  I don't want you to get in trouble for using them while fishing one of the "artificials only" waters this time of year.  Anyway, those were some really nice fish.

Oh. I know. Sorry to sound like such a noob. I wasnt fishing at the time of the artificials only time. But, once I saw that it was, I begged my parents to plan a trip down to Canyon creek. Many of those bait guys were just leaving their lines out all day in spots where I wanted to fish. I don't really consider my self a bait fisherman. I mean I do use bait, but I am not one of those idiots that use huge weights, 20 pound test, and just cast out to the other side of the river because they think its better, and leave their line out. Sorry to come off the wrong way. I dont want to sound like a noob to fishing. Just fly fishing :)

If those are from Contra Loma then don't sweat it, those pigs are planted in there that big. No reason for catch and release in a lake like that place. It's the big planters that make them money, just like Amador.

Yeah. But, I still exercise catch and release. All the trout I caught at putah were caught and released, even though they all were planted. Anyone want to give me some tips on fly fishing on a lake?
