Hope everyone had a nice thanksgiving and are enjoying the incredible weather we're having! Looks like it's going to hold through the next several days. I'm going to try and make it to Putah on Sunday and will probably start around the bridge. If you see a green 2 door Tahoe lisence MATUKA1, I'm there. If you see a guy with way too much stuff crammed into his vest falling on his ass while rock hopping, that's me. See You!, Viking
Thanks for the fly on Sunday. I did hook up on a fish but ended up losing the fish, my fly and the fly you gave me. Thanks again. It was the only hook up I had all day.
Tk, Glad the fly got you some action. Last Sunday was the last time I've been to Putah.I've read that the flows are up some and that once the fish get used to it the fishing should improve. I fish those tiny midges with either 6x or 7x flourocarbon tippet. The lighter you go the more natural the artificials appear to the trout. The obvious problem is that it's tuff to get them to the net. You can probably get away with 5x or even 4x flouro., if there is a solid emergence / hatch on and the fish are feeding aggressively, but I find that if there's not alot or any surface/subsurface activity going on, the lighter tippet the better. I'll hit you with a few flies next time we meet. See you, Viking
