sorry no one can help you on here, no one has been fishing putah. just playin, all i can say is read the post. things are slow, but there is a lot of info in the posts to help you out. what flies are working, where to look as far as where to fish. as far as location calling, not to many fisherman will give up there spots, especially now with the low flow, they are hard tom come by. you might get a above the bridge, below the bridge or something like that. the fish are everywhere, gettin them to hit is another store. early am until the sun hits the water, and the evening when the sun is off the water is the best time. once that sun is on the water the fishing is tuff. so maybe find spots that are shaded so the fish cant see you as well.

Larry Welcome a board.  Yeah I just damn near fished a whole year a way, it's time you get out .  As brian said it's a little on the slow side out there right now.  I think there should be more fish moving up in the next month. I'm waiting for em to start moving up, cus I know just where to catch em when they do.biggrin The water.

just as matt r says who is one of the best on the creek, slow right now, but in a month they will be moving up and it will be great, find those deep pools, and tail outs and youll be good to go. hey matt r you should pm that spot you was talkin about when you was cleaning up. hahaha. but ya jsut get out there and fish, if you see fish they can see you. dont wear bright colors and if you can get in the shade or have the sun facing you or be behind the fish. once the fish see you its gonne be tough to catch um. but get out there fish and experiment, and if all else fails have some fun.

good luck and welcome to a great board with great people with great advise. you cant get a better forum.

Please be aware that in about one month the spawn should be in full swing so those of you that dont already know we really should not fish for these exposed fish.We are currently working on possibly posting the obvious spawning areas to educate the public about the importance of maybe just observing and not harrassing. As these things become official I will definately let everybody know. Thanks Bono

you can tell where they are starting to spawn you will see nice cleaned out areas all gravel and no weeds or twigs or anything like that near. it will be completely cleared out. its kinda neat looking when you see redds like that. they are mostly in tail outs, very shallow water areas, low moving is even better. again once you see one bed you can recognize them all.

Posting signs on the creek is a good idea to educate our fellow anglers.  Many people just don't know.  They see big fish and go after them--it's an instinct.  However, we need to be careful when posting spawning sites on the internet.  We're not the only ones reading these posts.  Any one with a big treble hook and an internet connection can find out exactly where to go.

I agree with JT. The education would be useful, but I also don't want to be the "informer" that helps the folks who should just be driving to the fish market, snake a free meal.

I mentioned last week, a spot where I fished a faster deeper hole, from a steep, rocky bank because the opposing bank looked like redd-land. What I didn't mention was the pair that waded right thru it while I looked on.

Had I actually seen spawners I would have spoken up.  For now, I can only take care of my own foot prints.

Ed.

Posting the spawning areas is ABSOLUTELY the right thing to do.  People will see the big fish one way or the other, and if they know that those are spawing fish (assuming they can read - which may be asking a lot), they at least will know that what they are doing is a BAD thing.  Then anyone who sees them doing it can point to the sign and say 'Dude - can't you read?'.

The person may say 'duuuh, nope - quit skool in 3rd grade to work with 'm pa makin moonshine'.

At least at that point the ice is broken and you can talk to the person about it.  Unless they decide they'd rather knife you.

Seriously, posting is the correct move.

oh just to throw it out there. might be doing a yuba trip sometime soon.

i know eric you will be down. especially if its on a thursday or friday.
