Fished most of the day today from 11-5.  Seemed pretty tough today.  Lots of bugs and fish rising in all the areas I fished.  That seems like about the worst time lately to be on the creek for me, mid day like that.  I finally got a 17" native right below the bridge in some slack eddie behind a rock.  Fish was a brawler.  Fox pupae baby.  That was the only action all day.  Some guys had float tubes and one had landed a great fish.  He had video of it on his phone.  I also saw a yellow sally today which makes me wonder.....weirdface

same for me for the most part when i have gone out. a lot of fish rising and not to many takes. took 2 of my bosses out 2 different times, the first time out we landed a total of 10 fish, 6 for me and 4 for him, but lossed just as many, then the next week took my other boss out and i lossed about 5 fish didnt land any, and he didnt catch a thing. but fish all over the place. all fish caught on small 18-22 midges and bwos.

as far as this weekend cappy, its not looking good for me to make it. i have it off which is good but there is another factor that is haunting me. i will let you know. i sure hope i can make it.

Fishing isnt about catching fish, its not about who caught the most, or who caught the biggest, its about the experience that you have on the water, and the life long bonds you make with others on the journey to becoming a better person inside.

There have been a lot of dry fly opportunities lately.  I hate that!  I carry tons of subsurface flies, but I'm never prepared for the times when the fish can't keep their eyes off the surface.

I'm going on Wednesday and will be looking for the risers where I think you guys are fishing.  Downstream, the surface activity has been extremely sporadic even during modest hatches. I've hooked around 4 fish this year on dries which is an all-time low for me at Putah.

Hope those fish are still rising on Wednesday.
