Too Low Flow?

The flow at the creek is super low and some good runs are now exposed. Do the the flows stay this low all winter or do they let more water out? How can i find out when/if they are letting water out? confused

from what i have read from jts postings, and just reading in general, looks like it will be like this until the putah canal clean up is complete then they will let a lil more water out. but who knows what that will be. there are still plenty of nice holes out there. just very hard to get a drift. and if there is one. it takes about 5 mins to complete the thing. it kinda sucks.

good luck out there

Just curious here... now that the creek's flow is up to 83 cfs does that mean the fish will need a few days to adjust to the change? Or is the bite always on? I was hoping to fish saturday am but would change my plans if I need to.

This should be a little more normal for the winter time. Although it did stay around 50 for a long time last year. I think the increase in flows is gonna make for much better fishing then last weekend. I'm happy to see the increase, I know what hole I'll be fishin at first light saturday morning. Already rigged up with my #20 griffith gnat with a #22 zebra midge dropper. I'm pretty stoked to see the slight increase in flows.

hey cappy i would try that one hole, and also remember the one that you stayed at when i left, right above that section is a nice long deep run just like the one that you are gonna fish again. that would be a great section to try that #20 griffith gnat with a #22 zebra midge dropper. just my 2 pennies. let me know how it goes.

good luck.

oh ya got tuesdays and fridays off one week, then thrusdays and fridays the next. no weekends yet. but if i need to i could work out a friday saturday instead of a thur frid, just will need a week in advance

yo captain we should do some weekend trips before it gets too cold. I have weekends off all winter and I am always fishing somewhere. Hell I haven't even decided where I am fishing this weekend yet, it is probably gonna be a good one though due to the warm spell

Ha ha I know what you mean. I almost failed a crappy English class in the spring because I was on the water too much! Hmmm Shakespeare or smallmouth, is there really a choice? Shakespeare would have chosen smallies too I think!!! As far as this weekend I'm just note sure what is gonna be good. I'd have no problem exploring a new spot like Gerle but there is always the chance it will not be any good. If you know of anywhere you would like to go that is within a couple of hours I am all ears. Don't know if I can do the whole weekend though cuz I have some school work to do and given that I already almost failed one class due to fishing I probably should hold back a little this time biggrin!!

the flows are going nuts. in the last few hours it has gone from 40 to 90 cfs. Since when in hell do farmers need water at at 6pm?

Flows shot back down, Would have been better if they didnt increase em at all, Its the big changes that put the fish down. The increase would have made for good weekend fishing, Increases in my opinion are ok, But its the big decrease that puts fish down. Oh well, gotta deal with all conditions, I'll be out there at sunrise tommorrow.
