So, with horrible traffic, my pleasant Friday evening of fishing turned into a mad scramble to get on the creek in time to catch a few.
Got on the creek about 6:00 which nowadays is 1 hour from dark. Got a few grabs tightlining, nothing to hand.
Got up to a certain 'rock' and got three fish to hand, biggest was about 13 inches. fish were starting to rise, so I tied on a dry, then a dry, then a dry, and finally a dry that got a few takes, but nothing landed. The last dry was at dark and man if I couldn't see to put the line through the eye. Getting back to the car with a headlamp sans working batteries was an adventure.
This morning, on the other hand was much better. Had three hours to fish, and made the most of it. Got four fish to 15 inches between 7 and 9 am - with several lost (including a nice bigger fish). Hit some previously inaccessible water and tightlined my way up stream for an hour with about 10 fish to 15 inches to hand. No pigs, but plenty of willing, strong fish.
Successful flies were #16 BH Prince and #14 BH Pheasant tail.
If I could have stayed out all day, it might have turned out to be an epic one. What amazing weather.
