That is really unfortunate. I wonder if the County has the authority to designate a waterway "non-navigable". I have always been under the impression that such a designation is applied by the Army Corps of Engineers under federal authority.

I just need to add.... that is one most internally inconsistent set of policies I have ever read.  I would definitely expect this document to be subject to legal challenge.

Even worse news...

Typical political crap that I'm sick and tired of hearing. Dont ya see that the only thing that matters to these morons is water for farmers and for southern california. The trout don't matter one bit. thank goodness this will not affect the mccloud above the mccloud resavoir, Theres already to much pvt. property along the river below the resavoir. The entire economy in that area is all from either logging or tourist/fisherman. Let those idiots ruin the rivers up there Like the idiot politicians ruin everything else. Weres all the consevation groups ? Ya never seem to be around when a real issue is at state. This is one of the many reasons why I plan to leave california soon as possible, This whole state sucks when it comes to wildlife managment and water managment. Makes me wanna puke.

There's lots of issues about the north right now.   The Nestle corp. is trying to use ground water on the McCloud for bottled water.   The Caltrout.org website has info.  Not to mention the pacific railroad company and the Upper Sac issues over the last 20 years or more.  Hook up with Caltrout or Trout unlimited if not already.  They need your help.
