Fished the high Sierras from Rock Creek to Walker this last week, on my way back to Davis this fall. Best way to go to school in my opinion. Weather was good at Rock Creek Lake until a week ago, then it went south quick, with lots of wind and a dusting of snow. At the lake we managed some browns (biggest was 17, but all broke off monsters), as the creeks were low and warm when we started, we focused on the lakes in the area. We got blown off the Owens River (50 mph gust + tent =bad night) and proceeded to walker. We fished some of lakes in the area and landed several fish, most notable a 20"+ brookie and a couple of nice cuts. Attached some pictures of the trip. First trip I had a camera on a trip.
Captain, that would be Kirman where I got the larger cuts and brooks, we fished first light to about 2. Rained, snowed and hailed while were there, but it was definatly worth it. If you want to go, pm me on it.
I figured once you said you caught brookies and cutts, that lake is loaded with em. I'm pretty familair with the area, parking area off 108, old white farm house, climb over the fence using the stepladder, then hike 3 long miles. Next time I'm thinking of riding my mtn. bike to the lake, wont be until late next spring before I make it up there again most likely. That lake is starting to get a little to popular.
