well went up to putah from sunrise till about 10, and wouldnt you know it i got skunked, didnt catch a damn thing, around 8 or so there was a good mayflie hatch so did what jt showed me and nothing worked for me that day. guess my rookieness really came through that day. and not bringing the right gear didnt help much either, left all my 5xs at home, and all i had was a used up 5x and some 4 lb mono for leader, talk about getto, my indicator wasnt floating right, keep on sinkin on me, i tried everything, just wasnt working for me. so around 930 started packing up and called it a day. sorry i cant give any good news, i just suck on the putah, anyone wanna go up to the carson. hahaha, cuz i got the putah blues.

Hey Brian...sorry I missed you. You gotta hang in there longer than an hour in a half. I can't tell you how many days in the last 4 months I have spent 6+ hours on the creek without a hit. You'll get better...but you have to be patient and invest some time just trying different things. Didn't get to Putah with my Mom until bout 10:45. I rigged her rod and she actually hooked a hog for about 5 seconds. We spent most of the day above the bridge, had lunch, then finished about 4:00 below the bridge. I had about 7 on total, but only landed 4 small ones below the bridge. Had a monster hit above the bridge that almost bent my rod in half and ripped off my entire tippet and both flies. Second time in a week.

The Carson sounds like fun...but let's get you a successful day on Putah first...no promises of course. If you want to give Putah a shot next Thursday I would be more than happy to fish with you. Still a newbie myself, but hey, misery loves company eh?
