Hey guys, I'm getting ready to head up to the upper sac. next week for5 or  6 days and i keep hearing about "october caddis". Entomology is a big weak point for me, Along with a few other things biggrin. So, Can somebody tell me what patterns I should have just encase these caddis start goin off, I have plenty of your standard elk hairs, and a few stimulators. Anything else one might need ?

The October caddis hatch is great fun on the upper sac and the mccloud. I gave you my favorite nymph pattern earlier, but if you are buying flies stop by the fly shop in Redding. They should have a good selection of dries and nymphs. Burk has a nymph and a cased caddis. If you catch some fish in the catch and keep section of dunsmuir open one up. The fish are full of cased october caddis. My favorite dry fly on the upper sac is sloan's paralyzer. Get some orange ones in size 10 and some smaller ones for the wiser fish. Fish will literally jump out of the water when they see a paralyzer. During the day fish will slam the previously mentioned nymph if you swing it through the riffles.

Try Bill Carnazzo's pattern.  If the adults are out just throw an orange stimulator.

Good Luck,
