Sage is discontinuing the SLT line of rods and will be coming out with a new upgraded rod to replace it. Most places are selling them for 30% off regular price....now's the time to save about $200 on a great rod!
The replacement is probably better. Everyone loved the XP but I cast a Z-axis last week and that was a mistake. Now I want one. I own two Sage rods but my cap is around 300 bucks for each.
Depends on what they do with it. I've heard they are going to maybe use the new technology from the Z-axis for the replacement. I have an XP and have used a Z-axis, I kind of like the action of the XP better myself. I hear you about the price cap but now that they are closing out there are great deals to be found. I just got a brand new with warranty card SLT 8wt for $300 on ebay...not bad for a $625 rod. The 6wt XP I have was also found on ebay after they discontinued them..with warranty card for $350.
