Started fishing around 4PM last everning from the broken Dam at parking lot 4 two hours no luck. Went down stream and fished the tail before it descends.  I'm just learning to dead drift and am not very good at figuring out length of leader, weight, indicator size.  Was using a brassie and PT and doing the best I could to get it near the bushes on parking lot side fishing from the opposite side waded in about ten feet from the bank.  Cast 15 times, nothing.  But then when I let the line swing up, the darkest biggest fish I have ever seen at Putah came half out of the water and hit my chartruese yard indicator.  The fish was so big it looked like it was mechanical, the wag was so pronounced.  The head was about 3 inches wide, it was was not more than 20 feet away when it hit.  The leader must of slid down his mouth because he caught the first bug.  I could barely budge him with my 9 ft. 5#.  Had him on for about 2 minutes.  At  that point  I  remembered that I had  not bothered to retie my upper tippet  when it knotted the cast before...tragic.  Broke at the knot.

I had never bothered to fish that tail before.  Just blind casting.  Unforgettable.

Sounds like fun. There's definitely some whales in there. It's nice to know where another pig hangs out.
