Plan on doing a quick day trip from the Bay up to either the Yuba or the North or Middle Fork of the Stanislaus this weekend. Haven't been up yet curious to hear which one is fishing better. It seems the Stanislaus is still blown out but improving from what I hear? All things being equal, I enjoy the Stanislaus more but not if the river is not in shape.
I don't know about the fishing, but from what I hear the conditions are nice on the Yuba. I haven't heard anything yet about the North and South Forks of the Stanislaus. The lower river is a little high but still fishable.

If you go to the middle fork stan. you goto fish below beardsly lake, water is clear. I wouldnt go past beardsly lake, You may wanna float the lake if your be there for more then one day. Sand bar flat campground is a real good place to stay and fish. This is maybe may favorite spot around to fish. So feel free to hit me up if you have any questions. The yuba is a long river, What part are you looking at ?
If I hit the NF Stan, I was going to start at Sourgrass, but had not decided whether to work up or down. If I hit the MF Stan, I was going to try Sandbar Flat where I had middling success last season.
I don't know the Yuba that well, but in past trips I've been frustrated a bit by all the campers. I was considering fishing one of the small tributaries, maybe Haypress?
I'm not very familar with the north fork stan. But I have heard that sourgrass is a pretty good spot both up and downstream. I like fishing the middle fork at sand bar flat I was up there last november and caught alot of fish, Largest a 16inch brown. I'm planning to spent a few days there next month.
I came across a website that covers the highway 4 corridor and the north Stanislaus at http://www.skibear.com/tmrfishing.html. Beaver Creek in Big Trees is supposed to be good in the early season.
