04/05 Nice Day!

Nice mid day fishing at the creek today. Had a few missed strikes on some caddis and mayfly emerger patterns. Nothing rising, but alot of bug life in the air. I decided to use some streamers, and the second cast, BAM! landed this 25 1/2 " hog! Had a good fight in em! Lost one more after this, and then I called it time for a beer to enjoy this great day.

Nice fish, Nic.  What kind of streamers were you throwing?  I've been swinging streamers lately as well but with no luck--a few follows but no strikes.

I got that beast off of a olive wooly, I usially rock black, brown, and olive. some with kyrstal flash and what not. I try streamers usially in the semi deep slow moving waters. It's allways worked for me when nymphs and dries arent working

Nice fish but I think you're a little off on your 25 1/2 inch estimate, I'd guess closer to 20-21...but then again you caught it not me :)

The fish doesn't have the girth that the summer and fall fish do, but that fish is pretty long.  I'd say Nic's fairly accurate with his measurement.

That's a great photo of a great fish, I've pulled that photo up to give a few friends an idea about what that creek holds. The colors are stunning, it really shows off how different the natives are from the typical bleached planter.

I'd didnt beleave it neither when the tape messure read 25 1/2" give or a take a inch or two in the rush of a quick mark on the rod and a pic but over all it was generaly in that inch range of 23-25" range, I've landed a bunch a 20 - 21" fish and they all fit there way into my lil trout net, but this one didnt. I think fish doesnt look that big because the fish is more long than it is girth.
